And so, a new year rolls past, and yet another new developer blog is launched! After almost 30 years of writing code, its time to see if I can remember how to write in English again… Well, at least I’ll try to make it easy on myself and stick to writing about code in one form or another.

Who?

I am a computer programmer…

… have been since the age of 12 when my dad purchased a C64 for Christmas, and while my sister idled away hours making block-character pictures of a house, I pulled out the manual, got that little hot air balloon sprite wandering across the screen, and never looked back, spending the…

Contrary to popular belief, there is (a little) more to me than just computers, and if you are in any way remotely interested, you can find out more here

What?

That is a good question and I really don’t know the answer to it. There is a big part of me that wants to get back into playing with software like I did as a teenager (before I “knew what I was doing”), and that invariably leads to games of some kind. So maybe I’ll try building some games.

There is also a part of me that wants to try to formalize the thoughts and opinions about programming that have grown in my head over many years, and while I am still constantly learning and growing, I’ve reached a point where I feel comfortable in my abilities as a developer to have formulated my own opinions on general development subjects, things like, test driven development, agile development, architecture, etc. So maybe I will opine on such subjects along the way.

I also read a lot of computer books. So maybe I’ll review a few of them.

Or maybe I’ll get lazy and just re-post geek comics

Why?

That is a very good question and, again, I don’t know the answer. It’s partly personal amusement, partly personal brand building, and partly because all the cool kids have stopped doing it, that its finally my turn to jump in and see if I have anything useful to say.
